I Am From

I am from cows who make milk,
From the goat who gives us cheese,
From pigs who give us pork,
I'm from horses who show us how to be free,
From dogs who impress me especially Penelope,

I am from a piano with books that go with it,
From Boxcar Children books on the shelf,
From Cook, Knitting and Sewing Books,
From photo albums about the family,

I am from swing sets around the neighborhood,
From tree houses in my back yard,
From wildflowers growing all around,
From wild open spaces at home,

I am from my Nina and Nino,
From Grandma and Grandpa Larranaga,
From my cousin Daniel Roybal who inspires me with his stories,
From my great Grandma Bobby and papa Melcome,
From my mom, dad, and Trevor who all inspire me too,
From my friends Elizabeth, Clarissa and Britney,

I am from perk up and pipe down,
From go jump in a lake,

I am from mushrooms fired in butter,
From baked turkey,
From beef steaks,
From Pizza and Peanut butter and Jelly,
I am from Spanish dancing in San Antonio,
From vacations at the beach in California,
I'm from New Mexico,
And that is where I am from.

Where I Am From

– By Devin B.

I am from chemistry books and old pictures From peppermint tea and scattered cook books
I am from singing and Italian food
From go wash and go to bed

I am from skyscrapers and wet streets
From humming and crackling fire places
I am from chicken soup
And sizzling pizza

I am from obnoxious noises
And complete silence
From busy streets
And some lonely roads
I am from houses close together
And an old creepy basement.

I am from a loving family
And caring friends

I am from boxes that are packed very neat
And moving around from place to place

WHERE I AM FROM

– By Elizabeth D.

I am from cook books and cds

I am from the t.v. show friends
And clothes on my dresser

From dishes in the sink and dogs
On the porch

I am from mornings and nights
At my house

I am from fruit trees around
My house

From my favorite tree I always
Climb in the backyard

I'm from the mountains and cactus
I always step on

I am from the taste of chile and beans

From the smell of stew when you walk
Into my house

I am from strawberries and grapes
And the sweet taste of watermelon
And honeydew

I am from school work and my
Home work folder that's blue

From math the subject that I am best at

I am from the stories my grandfather
Tells and the memories I have of him

I am from my mom, my dad, and my
Brothers, and sisters

I am from the bumpy road to galisteo
Where I visit my cousins, and aunts,
And uncles

I am from giggles and whines

From sunday school and verses in
The church

From wal mart and grocery stores
I'm from the games me and my sister
Play- house, monopoly, store, uno,
And old maid

I am from old friends and new friends
And from all my best friends clarissa,
Ruth, and annie

That is where I am from

I am from

I am from a Susan b. Anthony coin collection,
A black truck with phone booths in the back,
Roller skates, bikes, toy cars and music videos, computers
And the internet, games, cds
I am from spin tops and drawings paper planes and
I am from Storm, Thunder and Samson
I am from counting in another language and
A Pikachu target and Chinese elms,
Guppies, neons, frogs and Japanese posters
I am from cartoons and jokes,
My dads famous chile cheese macaroni,
My mom and dad grandmas and grandpa
I am from living in Texas for one year
And trip to Arizona and Nevada

Where I'm From!

– By Bertha G

I'm from the rocks and trees that are around my home
From the clean air I breathe

I am from the Rancho and the mountains
By my grandmas house
From the cows, horses and a donkey
That my grandpa has
And the flowers that my grandma plants,
From my father who used to clean my whole house

I'm from all the pennies that were lost on the ground
And I picked them up and put them in a jar

I'm from the people in my family who are always
Saying Hola and Adios to another
From all my cousins and sisters who I
Play with and have fun

I'm from all the good food that my family
Makes like disquiadas which you could make
Tacos, tortillas and a lot of good food over a wood fire
From my dirty sisters that never clean
Up their mess

I'm from the grown ups who are always talking
And giving each other advises when theres a problem
I'm from my beautiful family that cares for
Me and each other.

The End

Where I'm From

I'm from sugar and spice
And every thing nice
I am from the cactus thorns of cholla
Beside my house
And from the crab apple trees and the peach
Rose bush whose short stubby thorns I remember so well
As they just poked me.
I am from icees and colas
From movies and books
I am from the "quiet downs"
And "youll live"
From "wake up" and "sit down"
I am form my cousin Darrell who fixed my book
With tape and glue
And my favorite veggie: Green beans
I'm from Grandma Boggy and kids
Mesquite sandwiches and black coffee
From my eye I open
While squinting to see the birds fly
My cat jewel who I chased up hill
To catch and take inside.
Under my bed theres a suit case stuffed
Like a box of lost treasures
Saved for my little cousin Joliene
I am from "Precious moment dolls"
Wrapped for a birthday
When friends and family gathered together.

My Life

I am from yucca,
Barbed wire fences to keep the cows out
From the mountains, tall, blue, and beautiful.
I am from the colorful sunset
Every night
From the smell and sound
Of fresh coffee
Being ground every single morning,
And my moms homemade pizza, with black olives, and
Artichoke hearts.
I am from "get off the internet",
And "get off the phone"
From my mom saying "girls is your homework done?" to "lets
Go practice the violin!"
And as she says "comme si, comme ca".
I am from the paintings of Georgia Okeeffe that we all like,
And from my favorite actors,
Robin Williams, Uma Thurman, Julia Roberts,
Mike Myers, and Jenna Elfman,
I arrived from the Kirkwoods and their big lips,
And the Andersons and their thin hair,
So thats my life.

Where I'm From

I am from soccerballs, hockey pucks and baseball gloves,
Roller blades and computers to play on

From garden plants and cottonwood trees I could climb to the top,
The Lucasi Display, a card store where my grandparents all work

Warm bowls of vegetable soup with Rice Crispy treats for dessert
From bananas and meat load, beef stew and cheeseburgers

I am from orchards, swimming and fish tanks
From paint brushes and watercolor boxes,
So I can paint pictures of things that I hand in my room

I'm from the Ortiz mountains and the turquoise hills,
Where turquoise mine are

From the color green and French Toast with syrup,
Waffles and pancakes, egg sandwiches and raspberries

I am from the piano that I play on, that fills the house with sound
